Branding & Marketing Speaker,Event Curator
Derin Lindsey is a self-taught graphic designer, branding and marketing speaker, networking/social event curator and inspirational blogger. He began his career in graphic design at Alabama A&M University after volunteering to design the flyer for a play on campus in winter 2010. A few months later in Spring 2011 he launched Derin Lindsey Graphic Designing. Derin continued to design various flyers for classmates and campus organizations and developed the name "idoflyers". At the end of the semester, Derin discontinued his education and moved back to his hometown of New Orleans, LA. Derin continued to design and grow his clientele and following on social media. He soon launched his website in October 2013, highlighting his graphic work for clients throughout the United States. The site also featured an apparel line. Overtime, after gaining knowledge of branding and marketing, Derin launched "Branding & Brews" in summer 2015. BB was a networking mixer, and panel discussion on branding with Q&A, live music, a live painting and dj. The event was very successful, so much that a few month later "Marketing & Mimosas" was created. The event was a casual brunch style mixer. In 2016, Derin was invited by YAYA to host a three day workshop on branding and digital art titled "Design, Discuss & Digitize with Derin Lindsey". A few months later he did his first speaking engagement at Beacon Light of Hammonds' Business & Entrepreneur Mixer titled: "Branding & Marketing Matters". Derin enjoyed connecting with and encouraging entrepreneurs. In 2017, Derin returned with a new marketing mixer titled "All About Advertising". The event featured a game show! Later that spring Derin launched Derin Lindsey Events, a company that featured a sophisticated social experience with live entertainment, elaborate decor and music. He hosted his first event under DLE during Memorial Day Weekend titled "Denim, Art & Soul". Same concept as his networking mixers, except without any educational or panel discussion. Instead, DLE highlighted local vendors. Derin went on to host "Linen Lavish Life" a social, during Labor Day Weekend that featured live music and a comedian. Today, Derin continues to thrive as an entrepreneur by: providing eye-catchy designs to customers, giving local singers and entertainers a platform, creating social events filled with art and meaningful connections, educating people on branding and marketing, and providing people with inspirational and motivational messages from his #doseofderin. Be sure to check out his latest venture, Black New Orleans, a blog highlighting today's black businesses, events, artist, restaurants and professionals in the city of New Orleans.
